SmartGap Tools (tools.smartgap.io) is a portal of free online tools and a digital ebook store. We take your privacy seriously and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — EU 2016/679).

2. Data collected

Online tools: We do not collect any personal data on our servers. All processing is performed entirely in your browser (client-side). No data you enter is transmitted to our servers.

Ebook purchases: When purchasing via Stripe, the following data is collected by Stripe:

• Email address (for PDF delivery)
• Payment data (credit card) — managed exclusively by Stripe, never stored on our servers

3. Legal basis for processing (Art. 6 GDPR)

• Performance of a contract (Art. 6.1.b): processing your order and delivering the ebook
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f): tool functionality, anonymized analytics
• Consent (Art. 6.1.a): Google AdSense advertising cookies

4. Third-party processors and services

Some external services process data on our behalf:

• Stripe (secure payments) — Stripe Privacy Policy
• Google AdSense (advertising) — Google Privacy Policy
• GeoJS (get.geojs.io) — "My IP Address" tool: public IP and approximate geolocation
• ExchangeRate API — currency converter: real-time exchange rates

These services have their own GDPR-compliant privacy policies.

5. Cookies and local storage

SmartGap Tools does not use any first-party cookies. We only use localStorage to save your theme preference (light/dark). This storage is purely local and is not transmitted to any server.

Google AdSense may use cookies to serve personalized ads. You can manage your preferences at Google Ads Settings.

6. Data retention

• Online tools: no data retained (client-side processing only)
• Purchase data: retained by Stripe per their retention policy, and by us (delivery email) for the legal invoice retention period (10 years)

7. Your rights (Art. 15–22 GDPR)

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right of access (Art. 15) — obtain a copy of your personal data
• Right to rectification (Art. 16) — correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure (Art. 17) — request deletion of your data
• Right to restriction (Art. 18) — restrict processing of your data
• Right to data portability (Art. 20) — receive your data in a structured format
• Right to object (Art. 21) — object to the processing of your data

8. Supervisory authority
